OHS After School Activities Spring Session

The spring After School Activities session will begin the week of April 16. Please read and follow ALL registration instructions. Registration ends March 28.

Below is a description of the classes being offered this session. Download the Spring 2018 ASA packet to register.

Abstract Art: Do you love to make art? Get ready for explosions of color as we create fun artwork
inspired by the Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama. Pick up for this class will be at the art room door.
(Grades 1-5)

Cooking with Kids: Calling all Chefs! Come join in while we whip up some tasty dishes. We will be
peeling carrots, cracking eggs and using all sorts of fun cooking tools. On the menu this session is
Fried Rice, Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars, Donut Holes, Homemade Pizza and Pancake Muffins.
(Grades K-5)

Cookie Decorating: Come decorate cookies! We’ll use royal icing in a variety of colors, colorful
sprinkles, and our piping squeeze bottles! Best of all, you’ll take home a platter of your decorated
cookies! Our delicious sugar cookies are nut free. (Grades K-5)

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies: Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Lava Cookies, and
Vanilla Wafers. Each week we will crack eggs and add all sorts of yummy ingredients. We will be
whipping up a batch of cookies that will be brought home to be baked off and shared with your family.
(Grades K-5)

Cupcake Decorating: Come join in as we use all different types of tools for decorate cupcakes to
look like animals, flowers and all sorts of fun looking designs. (Grades K-5)

DYI Oils: Make lip balm, body sugar scrub cubes, shower melts, foaming hand soap, etc. using
essential oils. (Grades K-5)

Egg Hunt: Come hunt for eggs around the school to celebrate spring with Miss Ghazian! Everyone
will be a winner, but will you find the golden egg? (Grades K-5)

Flag Football: Players will get a chance to be running backs, wide receivers, defensive ends, and
corner backs. Learn to pass, catch, run routes and punt like the pros! If it rains, players will enjoy
dodgeball in the gym. (Grades K-5)

Floor Hockey: Come play floor hockey with Mr. Marko! (Grades K-5)

Glee Club: The Glee Club is a perfect activity for students who love to sing and play the classroom
instruments. By the end of the activity, we will put together our own CD and every student will make a
personalized CD jacket based on their favorite song. Also, our last session will be a concert/
singalong, and all parents and siblings will be invited to attend! (Grades 1-5)

Gym Games: Students can end their school day with Mr. Marko in a program that is designed to get
children moving! Students will participate in a variety of gym favorites such as parachute, scooters,
and tag games. (Grades K-5)

Jelly Hill Farm: Enjoy six weeks of hands-on learning at Jelly Hill Farm! You will learn how to care
for chickens, large farm animals, bunnies, and domestic animals too. We will be doing some
gardening and planting, talking a walk through the woods to see what we can find, and learning about
how everything in our environment is interconnected. Some weeks we will be very hands on with the
animals, and others we will be doing environmentally friendly crafts (planting seedlings, making
nesting balls, or building a bird house!). Best bet to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and
wearing old shoes. Rain or shine we will be outside, please dress accordingly. Please be aware this
activity is offsite and parents are responsible for their child’s transportation to the farm. Jelly Hill Farm
is located at 279 Brookside Drive. (Grades 2-5)

Hands on Pottery: The students will learn about painting with glazes and different painting
techniques on pieces that are food, microwave and dishwasher safe. The pieces will be returned to
Hands on Pottery for firing and a week later your child to take home! (Grades 2-5)

Make Your Own Fairy House: Just in time for the spring fairies, come make your own fairy house
complete with outdoor Furniture! (Grades K-5)

Make a Transistor Radio: Students will learn how a Radio works by building a small battery powered
Transistor Radio. Radio Basics and Radio Waves will be discussed. All parts are supplied. (Grades 4
& 5)

Mural Painting – Hot Cactus: Enjoy a two day workshop with Miss. G. In an effort to promote
collaboration and improve the appearance of our school, a diverse group of student artists will meet
to plan and execute a large Mural. Miss. G. will select the theme, organize the art materials, and
delegate jobs. Our beautiful Mural will be hung somewhere inside Osborn Hill School. Photos are
emailed the following week. (Grades K-5)

Paper Mache: If you like messy projects then this is the class for you. Come and work to create an
animal, a heart, snowman, rocket ship, or most anything can imagine. If you can think it, you can
create it in a paper mache sculpture. When your sculpture is formed you will have fun painting it and
adding creative details. Let’s get our hands gooey and let our imaginations run wild. (Grades K-5)

Slime & Squishies: In this class children will be making homemade squishies and trying different
slime recipes! Fun for all ages! (Grades K-5)

STEM Stuff: Create and test experiments, such as spaghetti towers or gumdrop structures to
reinforce various Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts. (Grades 3-5)

Spring Crafts with Miss Ghazian: Come get creative with Miss Ghazian! Paint, color, create!
(Grades K-5)

Teddy Bear Tea: Bring your stuffed animal and come have tea! We will play a game, do a craft and
have a dance party with Miss G and our stuffed animal friends! (Grades K-2)

Weaving and Needle Felting with Ms. Finck: Come learn to weave with Ms. Finck! Chose from
projects such as blankets for stuffed friends, bags & pouches, eye glass cases, wall hangings,
bookmarks, and tapestry pictures! Whether your child is an experienced weaver, has heard about
weaving, or just enjoys crafts, they’ll have a great time and create a piece of art that will last a
lifetime. “Looms” and yarn will be provided! (Grades K-5)
