Dear OHS Families,

I hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl weekend fun.  My wish would be to make it a Saturday event or a little earlier in the day to save on a late night before school.

Souper Bowl Can Drive

Thank you for all your donations to the annual Souper Bowl Can Drive that took place on Thursday.  In all, we collected close to 700 pounds of food donations for Bridgeport Rescue Mission.  The 49ers car collected the most with 374 items, but the Chiefs had a solid 290 items.  There were also 60 items in the new “Here for the Halftime Show” car.  Thank you to all who donated.  Big thanks to Kate Quas and Lauren Wilke for organizing the collection and making the big delivery. 

DESSA Mini Opt-Out

We have our winter assessment of our social and emotional universal screener, the DESSA-mini, coming up soon. This screener is in the form of a short survey completed by your child’s classroom teacher. You are able to opt your child out of this screener by emailing me before the opening of the window on February 20^th.  If you asked to have your child opted out of the Fall screener, we will opt the student out of the Winter assessment unless we hear otherwise from you. 

Winter Assessment Results

Our NWEA and Acadience Winter screener results will be available to families later this week.  For K-3 families, the Acadience results will come home in hard copy in your child’s backpack on Thursday, 2/15. K-5 Math NWEA and gr 4-5 Reading/Language Use NWEA results will be available in Infinite Campus on Friday, 2/16. These screener results are one data point to consider in understanding how a student is performing and achieving. As with all results, we want to take them in consideration with other assessments and student work and not jump to too many conclusions from one data point.  We have teacher-family conferences coming up in March and you can reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.
