Dear OHS Families,

Variety Show Thank You

The Variety Show on Saturday was a beautiful display of our students’ individual interests, abilities, and bravery.  Our family and staff were on hand to support and cheer.  It was a lovely event and is a work of love made possible by the countless volunteers working with individual groups and on the show day.  Sarah Fridman, Anne Truman, Kimberly Oliver, Marissa Jacobson, and Brittney Cianciulli deserve our appreciation as organizers, producers, directors, backstage direction, and so much more.  Congratulations and thank you!

Are You Moving?

If you are planning on moving, please email Mrs. Budlowski so she can advise on the two scenarios below.  Thanks!

  1. You are moving OUT of the OHS District and your child will NOT be attending OHS this coming school year, a request for record transfer will be sent to you for your completion.
  2. Moving to a new address within the OHS district, you will need to make a “Change of Address” appointment with the district registration office to prove your new residency by calling the registration clerk 203-255-8398.

Summer Birthdays

Please see the below information if your child celebrates a summer birthday:

  • From May 1 to May 31, we will announce daily birthdays for the months of May, July and August (i.e. on May 1, July 1 & August 1 will also be announced)

Your child will receive their birthday book on the above day (Saturday and Sunday birthdays are announced on Fridays). You are welcome to come in on their birthday or a day of your choosing in its place to have a special birthday lunch together during their 20-minute lunch time in the APR.

Have a great week,

David

That's a Wrap! Thanks to all for a successful Variety Show

We cannot adequately express our gratitude to The Variety Show Committee -Sarah Fridman, Anne Truman, Kimberly Oliver, Marissa Jacobson and Brittany Cianciulli - for the HOURS of work they devoted to this year's Variety Show! Saturday's show went seamlessly and our Osborn Hill students were all brilliant! Between the acts, stage crew, and narrators- our kids SHINED!

Thank you to Principal Hudspeth for your unwavering support (and impressive guitar and singing skills!) and to Assistant Principal Day and our OHS Office staff for all of your help along the way. We are grateful for all of the parents who have volunteered behind the scenes to make the show a success.

A message from the Variety Show Committee

It’s amazing how we all show up every year to support these amazing kids - we’re not just cheering for our own kids but with every act that goes up, we know you feel the nerves, then the joy, and then the pride. We are so proud of you. Many of you were not listed in the program but you all made this show happen. You bought costumes and drove carpools, cut music and figured out how to do things you never thought you’d need to do. You pep-talked and calmed fears and it was worth it. So thank you!

Last chance! Deadline for Parents Night Out tickets is tonight

If you can't get to Kentucky for the derby, watching it with your friends from Osborn Hill is the next best thing!

We'd love to have you at the OHS Parents Night Out - Kentucky Derby Party this Saturday from 5-8pm at Fit Club Lounge. Tickets are $40 a person and include dinner and two drink tickets. There is also a cash bar. The menu is southern derby-inspired, and drinks include wine, beer, spiked seltzers, and of course, the Mint Julep and Oaks Lily.

The races will be shown on a jumbo screen. Our "horse betting" raffle will be available leading up to the big race with cash prizes and more for the winners!

You can dress up in your Derby looks, but we'd love to see you no matter the attire!

Ticket sales close today - so grab yours while you can!

Help us hit our fundraising stride - it's the WALK-A-THON!

Our annual WALK-A-THON is just under a month away! On May 17th (Friday), your child will participate in Osborn Hill’s 2024 WALK-A-THON! This is an event in which all students and faculty walk together in a loop around the neighborhood north of the school as parents and neighbors cheer them along. Every child will receive a free OHS WALK-A-THON t-shirt to wear during the walk!

What does the WALK-A-THON fundraise for?

The WALK-A-THON is one of our biggest PTA fundraising efforts at Osborn Hill. It funds programs like author visits, field trips, STEM & SEL presentations, field day and so much more!

This year, our fundraising goal is only $25 per student. To help make this achievable we have created a webpage for every student to send out to friends and family if they wish.

How to support

You should have received a flyer via backpack mail on Friday!  Donations can be made via check or online. Check out your child's fundraising page by following these directions:

  • Go to OHSPTA.com and log in

  • Click on 'My Account' on the top right corner

  • Select 'My Forms/Paperwork'

  • Find the fundraising campaign for your student to edit your page and start promoting!

  • Share your student’s link via Facebook, Twitter or Email

Thanks for all your support and look for more info soon on ways you can help out on the day of the walk!

What role does the PTA play at OHS?

The PTA is an amazing group of parents, teachers and administrators focused on community building and developing outstanding instructional, cultural and enrichment programs at OHS. These programs include STEAM Night, Author Visits, Yearbooks and the upcoming Parent Social and Variety Show, among many more!

How can I volunteer with PTA events and programs?

Stay tuned! We will be starting our search soon for Committee Chairs for the upcoming school year.

Drop off your cans and bottles for the 5th Grade Service Project

Thank you to those that have dropped off cans and plastic bottles for the 5th Grade Service Project! The fifth graders will use the return money to purchase materials needed to make twist/knot blankets for childhood cancer patients!

Rinsed out deposit cans and deposit plastic bottles (no glass) can be dropped in the labeled collection box inside OHS next to the main office through May 10.

Next week! Pedal to school with the Bike Bus

There's unlimited seats on the Bike Bus, but you still need to Signup!

The OHS Bike Bus makes its inaugural run next week on Wednesday, May 8th! One of the best parts of the bike bus is that there's always room for one more! So register your child and their adult guardian today. Don't forget: one adult can be guardian to multiple children, so feel free to organize “bike pools” with friends and neighbors.
