Dear OHS Families,

It was wonderful to see so many families come out for our Harvest Faire this past Saturday! The turnout was terrific and we had a gorgeous fall day for the event. I want to thank all of the volunteers who chipped in to make the day a success, and a special thank you to the PTA Harvest Faire Committee Chairs, the Raffle Chairs, and other parent leaders who devoted all of their Saturday, plus many hours prior to the event, to make it all possible! It was my first ever Harvest Faire, and I was super impressed with the organization and the scope of the event to create a memorable day for our students!

Some important notices for this week:

Monday is Picture Retake Day - for students who were absent on the original day, and those who want a picture retake (students should bring their original photo package if having a retake, but keep the class photo). The 5th graders will also be taking a group photo.

Halloween Parades on Thursday 10/31:

Kindergarten Parade at 9:30 am - Family members can stand in front of the school to view the parade and cheer on the children. Kindergarten students can come to school in costumes, but please keep masks and accessories in a bag.

Grades 1-5 Parade at 2:30 pm - The parade will run the full length of the front of the school. Students in grades 1-5 will have time before the parade to put on their costumes.

  • Please note for all grades - we cannot allow any props that resemble weapons - including guns, knives, swords, sickles, pitchforks, etc.

  • If anyone does not want to wear a costume, please encourage them to wear school colors, spirit wear, or fall colors.

Have a great week!

Sean F. Smyth, Principal

Donate to help OHS provide a meal for Operation Hope

Hello Osborn Families,

We are over halfway to our goal of $1000 raised for Operation Hope. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. As a reminder, OHS will be providing a meal for people in need in our community the week prior to Thanksgiving. Please consider a donation to help us feed as many people as possible. You can Venmo a donation to @stacey-cunningham-3 (9555) or @Katharine-Kirk-2 (3652) by November 17. If you are sending in cash, please send in an envelope marked, “Operation Hope.” Thank you so much for your support.

Save your cans for the Turkey Trot Food Drive

It's almost November, which means its almost Turkey Trot season! The Turkey Trot Food Drive runs from November 4th through November 21st, and culminates with the Turkey Trot - a fun run around the building during school on November 26.

Starting next Monday, November 4th, you can bring in non-perishable goods to be donated to Operation Hope. Last year they were blown away by our support. Donations can be brought to your child’s classroom. The classroom with the most items collected will receive a prize!

Also, if you have any spare cardboard boxes (think small moving box size) please drop them in the office. Below are a list of items requested by Operation Hope:

Questions? Contact the Turkey Trot Committee.

Share your photos with Yearbook

Have any good photos from the Harvest Faire, Book Fair, or Pink Day? We'd love to feature them in the yearbook! You can email your photos of two or more students to ohsottersyearbook@gmail.com. Please include the names and grades of those pictured.

Keep us in mind as you snap photos at the Halloween parades and all other school events!

You can find PTA meeting recaps on our website

Couldn't make our last PTA meeting?  We've got you covered! Read a summary of October's meeting - including updates on school construction projects - on our website ohspta.com. You can find minutes from every meeting and view our meeting schedule for the school year.  We have a mix of evening and morning meetings to give everyone a chance to join. Our next PTA meeting is Thursday, November 14 at 7pm.

Say "Hello" with the IDEA Committee

In honor of Global Diversity Month, we will be picking a day to celebrate “the many ways OHS families say hello!” Do you speak a different language or languages at home? Please share with the IDEA Committee to include in this celebration.

Thanks to our family of friends!

It's hard to believe October is almost over, but I wanted to thank everyone for all of their support of the PTA, our teachers and staff, and our community. All the time and goods you donate is so appreciated in helping us to create an amazing experience for our children.

Harvest Faire is one of our biggest OHS PTA fundraisers of the year, and the money we raise helps provide programming like author visits, offset field trip costs, give each child a book on their birthday, and much, much more. Thank you to all of those who bought tickets, volunteered your time, played in our raffle, donated baked goods, and decorated pumpkins. We enjoyed seeing your faces on a beautiful fall day and celebrating our family of friends.

Each month, I want to spotlight committee leaders who have poured tremendous time into events and activities. Their leadership is really the heart and soul of our community. Here's a shout out for October:
