  • Friday evening, 5:30-8:00, is the annual Team Teddy St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser at OHS. This event is held each year in memory of former OHS student, Teddy Gerber, for whom Teddy’s Corner is named in our LLC. In the years of raising funds for childhood cancer research, the OHS community has raised well over a million dollars! We look forward to another strong year!

I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! Take care.

Sean F. Smyth, Principal

Team Teddy St. Baldrick's Fundraiser at OHS on March 21

Mark your calendars: the Team Teddy Osborn Hill School St. Baldrick’s event, which has raised $1.6 million for pediatric cancer research since 2010, will be back at OHS on Friday, March 21, from 5:30-8:00PM.

Join us for a fun and meaningful evening when Team Teddy-OHS holds its 16th annual fundraiser. There will be raffles, a bake sale, Super Duper Weenie and all sorts of fun for a great cause.

Team Teddy was founded in honor of Teddy Gerber, who was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma in 2009, when he was a 3rd grader at OHS. One of Teddy's most joyful times during his illness was the first Team Teddy event held in March of 2010. OHS Pack 199 had been holding St Baldrick’s events for years before 2010, and offered to hold that year’s event in honor of him. Teddy was the star, overseeing the first 'shavee' of the night (his older brother John), as well as many of his friends. He passed away after bravely fighting his illness for nine months.

Each year since we have continued to meet at OHS on a Friday night in March, to remember Teddy and to raise funds for and awareness of pediatric cancer research. In 2020 and 2021 we were forced to hold virtual-only events due to Covid, but each year we still raised over $75,000. This year we have already raised over $48,000, bringing our 15-year total to over $1.6 million.

The money raised by events like ours goes towards grants that allow scientists to better understand pediatric cancers and how to treat them more effectively, giving children a better chance to recover and live their lives.

Those who want to contribute without going bald can sponsor a shavee, buy treats at the bake sale, or purchase raffle tickets with the chance to win fantastic prizes. To sign up to be a shavee, make a donation, or check out our local sponsors, visit: https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/108/2025

Sending our support to Mrs. Gerber

With Jessica Gerber's permission, we are sharing that after the St. Baldrick's event, she will go out on medical leave to have surgery to remove a malignant tumor. She has heard from her medical team that it is curable, however it is nonetheless scary and overwhelming to experience. As you may know, Mrs. Gerber currently works at our main office at OHS but has worn many hats. Not only is she a former OHS parent, she previously served as a member on our Board of Education and for years, tirelessly advocated for our kids and schools. She has always been a helpful partner to our PTA.

On behalf of the OHS Community, we're using PTA funds to give Mrs. Gerber a care package to wish her a speedy recovery. Should you want to also send your own personal well wishes, you can send them into the office and we will deliver to her house. Lastly, we arepersonally encouraging you to attend the St. Baldrick's event on Friday. This event means so much to her and by helping the event be a huge success will speak volumes.

Send in $1 for Hat Day on Thursday

Put on your thinking caps this Thursday for our Hat Day fundraiser! Send your child in with $1 Thursday and they can wear a hat to school. Funds go towards the 5th grade end-of-year activities.

Last week for recyclable can/bottle collection

The fifth graders are still accepting your redeemable cans and bottles to raise funds for their service project. The drop off box will be in the main hallway all week, or contact Rachel Parrish to arrange a pickup or drop off.

Join next year's OHS PTA Board

Believe it or not, it's time to start thinking about PTA Board positions for the next school year! We are looking for a nominating committee of 3-5 people to help fill the vacant Board positions. If you are interested in being on the nominating committee, email Rachel Parrish.

If you are curious to know more about PTA Board positions, or have an interest in serving on the board, use this form to indicate one or more that you would enjoy!  Once the nominating committee is formed, they will start reaching out to folks.  Don't hesitate to contact Rachel Parrish or a current board member if you have any questions about board positions or the election process.
