Dear OHS Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

We had a great St. Baldrick’s event at OHS on Friday Night! It was my first ever St. Baldrick’s, and I was very moved by the memorial to Teddy Gerber, and the passion and generosity of the community to support such an important cause. We had many brave OHS students volunteer to shave their heads to raise money for pediatric cancer… I am very proud of all of you! I think what you did is so cool, and so thoughtful. We also had some incredible raffle prizes donated by OHS families, such as Broadway theatre tickets, professional sports tickets, bicycles, etc… Thank you for your generosity. Also, I am sure you all join me in wishing Teddy’s mom, our very talented Jessica Gerber, the best in her upcoming medical procedure and a speedy recovery. I look forward to having her back in our office soon.

I heard a lot of terrific feedback about our parent-teacher conferences last week. Please remember that parent-teacher communication is not limited to conferences. If you have input, questions, concerns, or compliments, please reach out to your teachers at any time. The collaboration and communication between parent and teacher is such an important component of educating all of our children.

A couple of reminders: ASA’s continue this week - please make sure your SDM is updated accordingly. Also, Friday is a Spirit Day - bust out your OHS gear!

I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! Take care.

Sean F. Smyth, Principal

5th graders thank you for your can and bottle donations

The fifth graders would like to thank the OHS community for supporting their service project. With the money from your can and bottle donations, we were able to purchase supplies to create 15 blankets for premature babies in the NICU.  While making the blankets last Thursday, the students were visited by a representative of the Tiny Miracles Foundation, who taught them how preemies benefit from having the blankets cover their isolettes. Thank you to all who donated and who helped out at the redemption centers for your support!
