Dear OHS Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

We have two full weeks before our holiday break, and every week of instruction is important. As you can imagine, it can be a challenge to keep the students’ attention this time of year. I ask that you please hold off on the holiday wear (ie Santa hats, elf ears, etc…) until the last week before break to help lessen student distraction..

A few important reminders for this week:

  • We will be doing hearing screenings this week on all students.

  • The OHS Band will be providing Holiday Caroling during arrival on Friday, 12/13 from 8:45-9:15 am.

  • We are collecting unwrapped toys through the Fairfield Public Schools Maintenance and Custodial Toy drive through December 16th. The toys will be donated to local and state charities to provide gifts for those in need. The collection box is located in our lobby.

  • We have an opportunity to help Osborn Hill families for Christmas through our Holiday Gift Card Drive. I sent out a Parent Square recently, but in case you missed it, here is the letter with more details. We appreciate your support.

  • Please make sure you update your SDM with any dismissal changes.

I hope you all have a terrific week ahead! Take care.

Sean F. Smyth, Principal

All remaining Variety Show tickets on sale Monday at 12pm

We have lots of tickets still up for grabs for this year's Variety Show! We will release all remaining Variety Show tickets in Round 3 today at 12pm. Performers and non-performers can buy as many tickets as you need in this round, and tickets will remain on sale until we sell out. Tickets are $18 each which includes credit card processing and transaction fees.

Purchase Tickets HERE at 12pm

Ticket FAQ's:

  • Tickets are non-refundable, but they are transferable. In order to transfer, ticket holders will need to coordinate on their own and give the hard copy tickets that they receive at the dress rehearsal to the recipient.
  • Every single person that comes to the show needs a ticket. Due to fire codes there is absolutely no lap sitting.
  • Strollers will need to be left in the lobby.

A reminder for our performers - all participants in the Variety Show MUST be paid members of the OHS PTA. Click here if you need to register or update your membership for this school year.

Find teacher favorites on our website

Trying to guess which restaurant in town is your teacher's favorite? Do they prefer Starbucks or Dunkin'?  Candy or candles? 'Tis the season for tough questions... but you can find the answers to all of these and more on our OHS PTA website!

We've done the leg work for you and surveyed OHS teachers and staff for their favorite things. You can find them by selecting "Staff Favorites" under the School Info tab, or by clicking here.

A reminder - a portion of the funds collected by room parents at the beginning of the year are budgeted for a class holiday gift for the homeroom teacher.  Room parents will be in touch about this later this month.

Order your Chris Grabenstein books before author visit

The award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author of over five dozen fast-paced and fun books for kids Chris Grabenstein is visiting Grades 4 and 5 on January 21st.  Book order forms were sent home this week - you can also print one here. If you'd like a book make sure you send your order forms and payment by December 16 - we won't be able to accept any orders after that date.

Any questions? Contact Kate Fierman

Do you have an incoming kindergartener?

The office is compiling an email list of incoming KDG students for the Fall of 2025.  Please email school secretary Theresa Budlowski with your future KDG student’s first and last name, date of birth and the preschool they attend so they can be added to the list to receive future information about registration, etc.

Cleaning out your closet this holiday season?

Recycle your used and damaged textiles at the white bin in the upper loop of the OHS parking lot.  You can donate clothing, shoes, sheets and blankets, towels, and even stuffed animals. The textiles can be turned into cleaning cloths, stuffing and insulation - so it's a perfect spot for anything with holes, ripped, or worn out! Find the full list of accepted items here. The PTA receives funds for each ton of materials collected. If the bin is full, please do not overstuff or leave clothes at the side of the bin. It's picked up weekly, so please try again!

Volunteer opportunity to plan spin cycling fundraiser

The OHS PTA has been offered an opportunity to hold a fundraiser and social gathering at R1DE Fairfield, the cycling studio in the Sportsplex. We are in need of a few volunteers to plan the event. Can you help? Email our Volunteer Coordinators.
